The URUSARO International Women Film Festival awards filmmakers who exhibit the place of a woman in the society.
Also scheduled as the awarding event, the closing ceremony of the 4th URUSARO International Women Film Festival took place on 11th October, 2019 at Sainte Famille Hotels, in Kigali-Rwanda; which was the same venue for the festival’s opening ceremony. The event opened with a Red Carpet of Local Filmmakers, where the crowd brought its word into the perception towards the Rwandan “stars”, with great joy and supportive attitude.
Short Speeches from the Founder and Legal Representative of CinéFEMMES RWANDA, the Festival Director gave a preview of the festival. Particularly, the President of Festival International De Films De Femmes de Créteil in France, Ghaïss JASSER, mentioned the hope she has towards the progress of the URUSARO, basing on the experience of the pionners they are, in running a 45 years old women film festival.
It has been a week powered by screenings of films classified in two lines: they might be either made by women, or made by men with a focus of showing the place of a woman in the society; Panel Discussions, master class and training. All official selected films screened was competing and the time to know the bests was ticking on the calendar. The winners were given awards, and special mentions of the Jury were honored with certificates as a sign of recognizing the great work done.

Among the guests were Hafid El AISSAOUI, representing the Festival International De Films De Femmes de Salé in MOROCCO, at its 16th Edition, that he co-founded; Brook HOLSTON and Vanessa GOULD, filmmakers and media professionals, as a delegation of the American Film Showcase, a delegation of four filmmakers from Kenya, among them two specialized into Mobile Journalism, and Pauline MVELE, a documentary filmmaker from Gabon.
